Fit For Life
You’re never too old to add fitness activities to your life! Riverside Lodge now offers Fit for Life – a program designed by Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, that will help you maintain health and independence.
The Fit for Life programs include cardiac conditioning, upper body strength, stretching and flexibility, and more. They are facilitated through group classes and Riverside’s topnotch physical fitness center which includes a swim spa for aquatic classes. We offer a variety of individual and group fitness activities for active seniors in our Grand Island, NE facility.
Designed with You in Mind
Through independent and/or group classes, you’ll learn proper exercise techniques and how to use the exercise equipment. Your instructor will also answer questions, give encouragement and modify your program as needed. Vital signs such as your blood pressure, weight, blood sugar levels and other vital signs will be regularly monitored.
Group Exercise Programs
Group exercise is a great way to socialize while becoming more physically fit. Our classes accommodate people at different fitness levels.
Cardiovascular Fitness Class
This class promotes increased aerobic capacity, endurance and strength through activities like walking, bicycling on stationary bicycles, arm exercises, wheelchair propulsion, stair climbing, aquatic exercises in the Riverside swim spa and more.
Upper Extremity Strength Class
With arm circles, neck rotations, overhead stretches and seated table or standing wall push-ups, participants increase the strength in upper body and trunk muscles.
Standing with one foot directly in front of the other, walking backward and sideways, and stretching will help improve your balance, stability and coordination. Exercises in this class require that participants be able to stand, even if you need a cane or walker.
Strengthening and Stretching Classes
A variety of exercises like leg lifts, arm lifts, hamstring stretches and more to promote stability and strength of the back, legs and abdomen, along with flexibility of the spine and surrounding muscles.
